“Green” Certification
Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) certified that SEALTECH masonry units contain a minimum of 10% recycled content.
This certification makes SEALTECH BLOCK the only third party certified "green" concrete masonry unit and allows for potential use as a LEEDŽ credit component and meets US Green Building Council (USGBC) guidelines.
And since pricing for SEALTECH BLOCK is comparable to standard block, it doesn't cost more to be "Green."
What does it mean to be "Green?"
U.S. Green Building Council was founded in 1993, the USGBC is a national coalition of construction industry leaders promoting environmentally responsible buildings. In 2000, the USGBC drafted a voluntary, consensus based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design or LEEDŽ was developed to Define Green Building by establishing a common standard of measurement, recognize environmental leadership in the building industry and raise consumer awareness of Green Building benefits.
Green Building Movement is expanding tremendously. In 2000 there were 12 buildings LEEDŽ certified but by January 2005 there are 1,834 buildings registered for certification.
Green Building is also expanding in the government. In 1993 Presidential Executive Order #12852 established the Presidents Council on Sustainable Design. As of January 2005 more than 45 Federal, State & Local government bodies have enacted Green Building legislation.
SEALTECH BLOCK has raised the standard
for architectural concrete masonry units
and is helping to build a greener future,
one block at a time.
